Program Note

In English

Tempo de Hielo (2002)
Clarinet, violin, double bass and electronics

Tempo de Hielo (Ice Age) is a recomposition of the work Istid (1997). It evokes the era when a vast white mantle of ice covered Northern Europe, carving the hills and valleys of the modern landscape. The work begins with the clarinet, violin, and double bass playing in a shared register, creating a texture that slowly opens and closes beneath the “ice crystals” of the electronics. The music then moves into a freer, more breathing middle section before concluding with quiet, crystalline harmonics.
