Text from Dacapo Records
The four musicians have chosen to prioritize chamber music in their musical careers. This allows the musicians to go into depth with the ensemble playing and frees the ensemble for several international tours annually. Since its critically acclaimed début in 1997, Ensemble Nordlys has performed at prestigious venues around the world and counts as one of the most established young Danish ensembles. In this country one could listen to Ensemble Nordlys in the Danish National Radio Concert Hall, the Århus Concert Hall, the National Museum of Denmark, the Copenhagen Summer Festival etc. In 2002 Ensemble Nordlys represented Denmark at the international EU Music Festival in Warsaw, and last year the quartet was appointed H.C. Andersen Ensemble on the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth of the poet. In this connection they played 50 concerts in Denmark and abroad including Germany, England, Greece, Sweden, Ireland, Israel, Vietnam, and Bangladesh. Ensemble Nordlys has also performed in Poland, Ukraine, Norway, Iceland etc. In 2006 the quartet has been appointed ambassador for the Danish Refugee Council and is releasing this charity CD to mark the occasion. www.ensemblenordlys.dk
