Program Note

Nocturne (2007/2013)
Cello and piano

Nocturne is a work in three parts. In the first section, a lyrical melody is heard in the cello accompanied by gently falling piano arpeggios, culminating in an intense, expressive burst before returning to the initial lyrical mood. The middle section is rapid, evocative of a dense fog of music where individual tones emerge like small drops of sound. The final part returns to the opening music, varied in form and melodic material.

The work consists of three movements:

1.  Andante cantando poco rubato
2.  Vivace moderato con anima
3.  Andante cantando poco rubato

Nocturne (2007/2013)

1.  Andante cantando poco rubato
2.  Vivace moderato con anima
3.  Andante cantando poco rubato

Varighed ca. 6-7 min
