Program Note

In English

5 Momenti Mobile (2019)
Accordion duo and piano trio

The first four movements are a recomposition of the solo accordion works Passing (2011 – 12) and Menuetto (2008 – 14), while the fifth movement is new. The work utilizes the “mobile” technique, where independent musical layers – each with distinct tempos and styles – are combined through a sequence of major thirds.

The first and third movements are characterized by quickly repeating notes, small motives, and fast patterns, creating a dense and energetic texture. In contrast, the second movement, Andante con dolore sostenuto, conveys a sense of tranquility. The fourth movement (Menuetto) and the fifth movement (Finale) conclude the work, as the whole unfolds in a unified form.

The work is dedicated to Bjarke Mogensen and the Lohse Quartet. It is also available in a version for accordion and piano quartet.

1.  Allegro con passione sostenuto. Allegro grazioso. Allegro meno mosso
2.  Andante con dolore sostenuto
3.  Moderato con brio. Moderato meno mosso. Moderato piú allegro
4.  Menuetto: Allegro grazioso con espressione. Allegro semplice poco rubato. Allegro grazioso con espressione
5.  Allegro meno mosso. Allegro vivace. Vivace. Andante poco agitato. Allegro con brio. Allegro vivace. Presto

5 Momenti Mobile (2019)

1.  Allegro con passione sostenuto. Allegro grazioso. Allegro meno mosso
2.  Andante con dolore sostenuto
3.  Moderato con brio. Moderato meno mosso. Moderato piú allegro
4.  Menuetto: Allegro grazioso con espressione. Allegro semplice poco rubato. Allegro grazioso con espressione
5.  Allegro meno mosso. Allegro vivace. Vivace. Andante poco agitato. Allegro con brio. Allegro vivace. Presto

  • LOHSE: Collage de Temps; 5 Momenti Mobile; Moto Immoto
(Nathan Faro - American Record Guide Nov/Dec 2018)
... It takes considerable willpower not to rewind to the beginning when it finishes...
... Like the rest of Lohse’s works on the album, it is a delight.

  • MusicWeb International (2018)
    (Richard Hanlon - MusicWeb International)
... Lohse has given this (work) the lovely title Moto Immoto (Motionless motion), an apt oxymoron that utterly encapsulates this short, heartfelt piece...
... it certainly affected this reviewer in those terms - and easily bears repeated listening. It is revealing that this ten-minute panel lasts not a moment too long.

  • Myriader af detaljer og intense klange
    (Henrik Friis - Politiken, kultur)
The mobiles are breathlessly intense as they alternate between mournful and optimistic with equal parts chain dance and black melancholy.
