5 Momenti Mobile (2019)
Accordion and piano quartet
The first four movements are a recomposition of the solo accordion works Passing (2011 - 12) and Menuetto (2008 - 14), while the fifth movement is new. The work utilizes the "mobile" technique, where independent musical layers - each with distinct tempos and styles - are combined through a sequence of major thirds.
The first and third movements are characterized by quickly repeating notes, small motives, and fast patterns, creating a dense and energetic texture. In contrast, the second movement, Andante con dolore sostenuto, conveys a sense of tranquility. The fourth movement (Menuetto) and the fifth movement (Finale) conclude the work, as the whole unfolds in a unified form.
The work is dedicated to Bjarke Mogensen and the Lohse Quartet. It is also available in a version for accordion duo and piano trio.
  1. Allegro con passione sostenuto. Allegro grazioso. Allegro meno mosso
  2. Andante con dolore sostenuto
  3. Moderato con brio. Moderato meno mosso. Moderato piú allegro

5 Momenti Mobile (2019)

I am deeply fascinated by the energy and musical expression found in Baroque music. The joie de vivre and playful lightness of Vivaldi’s concertos served as a major inspiration for this work, alongside Baroque music’s profound ability to reach an inner core of presence, expressing deep passion and connecting us to something greater than ourselves.

The concerto is in three movements, with the two outer movements surrounding a slightly longer slow movement in the middle. Themes, figures, and harmonic progressions recur across the three movements, while the soloist constantly alternates between being shifted in time and playing in synchronization with the orchestra.

The work was commissioned by PIF Castelfidardo 2024 and is dedicated to Antonio Spaccarotella and PIF Castelfidardo.

Concerto piccolo II
Accordion, brass ensemble and percussion
Ad Passum (Toward the movement) is inspired by the complex rhythms created when ocean waves hit the rocks. Initially sparking curiosity, it quickly transitions into a unique state of time - a feeling of being both entirely present and outside of time itself. The work opens with slow, expressive music that steadily builds in speed and intensity, eventually leading to a breakthrough of baroque elements.
The work is dedicated to Bjarke Mogensen.

Ad Passum (2026)
Concerto piccolo II

    Lad mig ved dit Hjerte slumre ind;
    Græd dog ei, det maa Du først mig love,
    Thi din Taare brænder paa min Kind.
    Her er koldt og ude Stormen truer,
    Men i Drømme, der er Alt saa smukt,
    Og de søde Englebørn jeg skuer,
    Naar jeg har det trætte Øie lukt.

  2. Moder, seer Du Englen ved min Side?
    Hører Du den deilige Musik?
    See, han har to Vinger smukke hvide,
    Dem han sikkert af vor Herre fik;
    Grønt og Guult og Rødt for Øiet svæver,
    Det er Blomster Engelen udstrøer!
    Faaer jeg ogsaa Vinger mens jeg lever,
    Eller, Moder, faaer jeg naar jeg døer?

    - Moder - see! nu kysser Englen mig!

The Dying Child
  1. Mother, I'm tired, and I would fain be sleeping;
    Let me repose upon thy bosom sick;
    But promise me that thou wilt leave off weeping,
    Because thy tears fall hot upon my cheek.
    Here it is cold: the tempest raveth madly;
    But in my dreams all is so wondrous bright;
    I see the angel-children smiling gladly,
    When from my weary eyes I shut out light.

  2. Mother, one stands beside me now! and, listen!
    Dost thou not hear the music's sweet accord?
    See how his white wings beautifully glisten?
    Surely those wings were given him by the Lord!
    Green, gold, and red, are floating all around me;
    They are the flowers the angel scattereth.
    Should I have also wings while life has bound me?
    Or, mother, are they given alone in death?

  3. Why dost thou clasp me as if I were going?
    Why dost thou press thy cheek so unto mine?
    Thy cheek is hot, and yet thy tears are flowing!
    I will, dear mother, will be always thine!
    Do not sigh thus - it marreth my reposing;
    But if thou weep, then I must weep with thee!
    Ah, I am tired - my weary eyes are closing -
    Look, mother, look! the angel kisseth me!

The score is in exact pitch, and the proposed registers can be changed according to the room and instrument.
Menuetto is dedicated to Bjarke Mogensen. The work has a long history: it originated as a minuet movement in 8 Momenti Mobile (2008) for saxophone quartet, was recomposed in 5 Momenti Mobile (2013) for accordion duo and piano trio, and finally reached its current solo form in 2014.
Along with the arrangement of Liszt’s Liebestraum (2006), it is one of the first works to employ "rhythm across harmony." This technique here connects independent musical layers through a simple sequence of triads, a method that later evolved into the "mobile" technique based on major thirds.

Akkordionsolo

I billeders hær,
saa mange der faldt over have og skær!
De sover vel nu,
de blændes af vandet og sover endnu.

Her er der kun sne

og rædselens raab
i dagenes skygger, som vogter vor daab.

I sjælenes aar
