Flute and delays
(bass flute, alto flute, and concert flute)
Around is structured in three parts where the flutist changes instruments for each section, starting with the bass flute, moving to the alto flute in the middle, and concluding with the concert flute. It follows a classic ABA-form where the first part is repeated at the end with slight variations.
The work begins with a canon between the player and the electronics, consisting of a single delay three beats behind the musician. It creates the illusion of two individual flutes playing; while the combined music is perceived in 3/8, the musician actually plays in 5/16, thereby maintaining the illusion of two independent voices.
The middle section features five fast delays that create a distinct change-ringing rhythm before the return of the first part.
Mobile
A musical technique where different layers of music in individual tempos, metrics, and musical styles are combined in a simple pattern of chords, which slowly modulate through all the keys in a never-ending sequence, creating music with no or very few dissonances.

Please note: This is not a complete list. It includes live performances and radio broadcasts across all versions of the work. While the archive is highly comprehensive for earlier years, recent entries show only a fraction of the 500-1.000 annual performances across the composer's complete catalog, reflecting only those events reported to and logged by the composer.
